Resumo: O presente estudo tem como tema principal o fenômeno de quedas em uma amostra populacional de idosas que residem em uma instituição de longa permanência em São Paulo – SP. A pesquisa foi realizada por meio da análise retroativa de prontuários de uma instituição específica, localizada na Zona Leste do município, e assim foi proposto um estudo observacional, descritivo e analítico a partir dos dados coletados. O objetivo principal do trabalho foi traçar o perfil de quedas dessa população idosa, bem como os principais desfechos clínicos dessa situação. Resumo em Inglês: The main theme of this study is the phenomenon of falls in apopulation sample of elderly women residing in a long-termcare institution in São Paulo-SP. The research was carried outthrough the retroactive analysis of medical records from aspecific institution located in the east of the ci ty and thus anobservational, descriptive and analytical study was proposedbased on the data collected. The main objective of the workis to outline the profile of falls in this elderly population as wellas the main clinical outcomes of this situation.
